On the Big Island of Hawaiʻi sits over 100,000 acres of Hawaiian ʻIliahi trees Santalum paniculatum (Sandalwood), stretching from Maunakea to Volcano. This is roughly half the size of the island of Oahu.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts and dedication of the family at Háloa Áina we are able to offer you the only Sandalwood essential oil produced in a small section of this ancient forest.
The trees grow on a 3,000 acre, dry land forest restoration preserve of Hawaiian Sandalwood where only dead and dying trees are are harvested. This helps to restore the canopy of the original forest.
In the last 3 years alone, Háloa Áina has used proceeds from their project to plant over 700,000 new sandalwood trees as well as hundreds of thousands of their host trees including koa, ʻōhiʻa lehua, māmane, pūkiawe, and ʻaʻaliʻi .
Partners at Háloa Áina also work closely with dozens of educational and research organizations including stewardship of 20,000 acres of conservation legacy sandalwood forests owned by Kamehameha Schools.
Beyond the positive environmental impact of this project on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood essential oil is very special because it contains over 70% Santalol (the organic compound responsible for the fragrant aroma), one drop goes a long way!
Soothing Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood calms restlessness allowing deep meditation and sound sleep.
